Do your veggies look delightfully healthy one day and the next morning look like your granny’s lacey doily? Annoying to say the least!
How to Keep Slugs Away
The offenders are most certainly yucky nocturnal slugs that live and hide in the soil, waking up to ravage your treasured plants while you’re sleeping. June is prime time for the slug population and they can decimate a polytunnel crop overnight, so keep monitoring the slug population, preferably by torchlight at night!
Nemaslug consists of millions of tiny nematodes (in layman’s terms – microscopic worms which kill slugs above and below ground). It’s supplied as a powder which is mixed with water and applied directly to the soil with a watering can.
Nemaslug does not leave any unsightly residues, controls all common species of small to medium sized slugs and is quick and easy to apply. The majority of the slugs will die out of sight underground, so don’t expect to see dead slugs lying around. Phew!
How Much Nemaslug Do You Need?
One application of Nemaslug provides 300,000 nematodes for every square meter of soil, giving at least six weeks control of slugs. This is generally enough time for seedlings and bedding plants to get well established.
Use the entire packet at one time (do not store part used packs or made up solution). Once mixed with water, apply immediately to the soil using a watering can with a coarse rose.
Wash any nematodes off the leaves using more water.
A standard pack takes approximately 20 minutes to apply and they are completely harmless to birds, animals and children.
Now sit back and watch Nemaslug work it’s magic.
