Many champions of the ‘Organic’ and ‘Self Sufficiency’ movement own Polytunnels.
An Eco-Friendly Gardening Solution
Perceived wisdom says that the environmental benefits of using a Polytunnel hugely outweigh the environmental costs of its production. For example, using a Polytunnel could significantly reduce the quantity of fruit and vegetables you need to buy, avoiding the associated food miles, energy costs and packaging. The cover should last for around four years, and can then be ‘recycled’ by making into smaller covers for cloches and cold frames and many other garden applications.
All the timber we use is sourced from UK sustainable forests with full FSC accreditation.
The enclosed nature of a polytunnel also reduces the need for pesticide and chemical control by providing an environment that protects plants from disease and the UK weather.
